Rep. John Lewis serves as the Representative of the 5th Congressional District of Georgia. He serves as Ranking Member of House Ways and Means, the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. He was born in Troy, Alabama and graduated from American Baptist College and Fisk University. John Lewis was one of the "Big Six" leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. He spoke at 1963's March on Washington and led the demonstration in Selma, Alabama that became known as "Bloody Sunday." He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
